Key West Spa owners and other spa owners will be required to shut their facilities by January 30, 2019 to prevent the President from implementing his travel ban.
In a letter dated Friday, the city’s Board of Health wrote that Key West’s business would not be able to open until the new policy takes effect.
The city of Key West, Florida, is among at least 10 Key West resorts and hotels, all of which are subject to the Trump Administration’s revised travel ban, are expected to close by the end of the month.
On January 1, the Executive Order bans citizens from six Muslim-majority countries from entering the United States.
“The Board of Management and Staff of the City of Key WEST has determined that, for the benefit of the community, the City will be unable to remain open to the public until January 31, 2019,” the letter read.
The City of Miami Beach also recently received an order from the Executive Office of Immigration Review that prohibits its residents from leaving the United State or traveling to any of its six cities.
The order also states that the city has an obligation to provide emergency assistance to all residents of Miami, including the homeless, who are affected by the travel ban or those who have been impacted by Hurricane Irma.
Key West, Miami Beach, and other Key West resort properties have been affected by President Donald Trump’s executive order banning citizens of seven Muslim-dominated countries from traveling to the United Kingdom, Canada, Ireland, and the United Arab Emirates.
Since March, Trump has taken to Twitter to warn citizens of the seven Muslim countries not to travel to the US.
On Friday, Miami-Dade County, Florida’s Board Of Health issued a cease and desist order, ordering all businesses in the county to shut and barring people from the area from operating the businesses.
The county said in a statement that the order “will not be enforced in the counties of Broward, Palm Beach, Hillsborough, and Miami-Fort Lauderdale.”
On January 3, the President issued a similar order in the area of North Carolina.
