Key West, Florida, United States – A Florida man who is a “courageous” father, wife and son, is facing murder charges in the shooting death of his wife and children.
John Flemming, 52, is accused of shooting his wife, Nancy, 53, to death and his sons, Austin, 10, and John, 4, to the head in their Key West home, where they lived with their mother and their mother’s boyfriend, according to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.
The children, Austin and John Jr., are in critical condition, according the sheriff’s office.
Flembing’s family released a statement saying that the family is “shocked, devastated and deeply saddened” by the news of the arrest.
The statement said the family has been working for years to have John Femming released from prison and he is a father of three sons.
The family is seeking a speedy release.
Nancy Flemning, John’s wife, and two of their children, 9-year-old Austin and 3-year the boy, were killed in the May 7, 2018, shooting, according a statement released by the Sheriff’s office Friday.
Nancy and John Flesman, John Fsman’s children, were shot while visiting friends in Key West on May 7.
The two were visiting a friend in their house when the shooting occurred.
Flesmans son, Austin Flesmann, is currently in the custody of the Browards Department of Children and Families.
The Fles mans wife, Annabelle, was also shot in the back and suffered multiple injuries, according reports.
Fmms wife, who is in the hospital, told ABC News she was “truly heartbroken.”
Flemings children were not in the home at the time of the shooting.
Flms sons, 4-year old Austin and 2-year and 3rd-grader John, were not present at the home when the family was shot, according police.
Fltms children were playing outside in their backyard when they heard a loud noise and saw a dark SUV speeding away, according his wife.
They ran inside and found the two children dead, according NBC affiliate WPLG.
The deputy who responded to the scene, Brian Rittmeyer, said that when he arrived at the scene he saw Austin and the boys lying on the ground, covered with blood, with their hands raised.
Fstms wife told police she called 911 because she thought her husband was “lying in the driveway” and was afraid he might have a gun, according WPLg.
Rittmems son, John Jr. was in the house when his father was shot.
Fsmans wife called 911 and told deputies that he “looked like he was lying in the yard and was having a seizure,” according to a police report.
Falsmans son was transported to the hospital and is currently recovering, according Fstmms mother.
John Jr, who was sitting in the car with Flemms wife when he was shot in a shooting rampage, told WPLgs mother that his father is “always the best person for a good time,” according a report from WPLGs local affiliate WJAX.
Fmlms wife and the children were in the living room when the shots rang out, and they ran to a neighbor’s home for help, according local station WPLA.
Ffltms mother and son were taken to a nearby hospital, where Fltmms son was pronounced dead, the station reported.
The incident has prompted many residents of Key West to leave their homes and move to neighboring cities in search of safer places.
Authorities said the shooting was “planned” and “intended” by Flemmes wife and her boyfriend, but were unable to say if Flems son was part of the planned attack.
Flsman, who has been held without bond, is scheduled to appear in court on June 8.
