The Salons of Key West in Key Biscayne are closing their doors and closing the doors of the restaurant.
Owner Tony DeCarlo says the business will close its doors on Feb. 11.
He says they have received the city’s approval for the closure.
We are very sad to have to inform you that the Salons, located at 6100 SW Main St., is closing its doors.
Tony DeBilo says he is closing the establishment in response to a City of Key Bocayne ordinance that was passed in March 2018.
The law stipulates that businesses are allowed to close within 72 hours if they violate the city code.
He added the law is aimed at preventing a repeat of the recent “Coke and Coke” incident at the hotel.
He said that the ordinance was passed to prevent a repeat, but that he is concerned the ordinance could be interpreted as prohibiting the establishment from opening again.
“It’s not a good outcome,” DeBillo said.
“If you are going to be a business in the city of Key, you need to follow the law.”
DeBato said he has heard that the restaurant’s customers have been complaining of late.
He believes the closure will not be the end of the Salon business.
“We are not closing for any other reason.
The reason we are closing is because we cannot comply with the City of Keys Ordinance,” DeBarlo said.
He adds that he does not believe that the city has been enforcing the ordinance.
“The City of keys ordinance is not really about any of the things that are happening here in Key,” he said.
The Salon closed in March after more than a year of operating.
It was located in the building that is now the Hotel Key West.
A statement from the hotel said that they are working with the restaurant to ensure they have a new location for their restaurant.
The statement added that they expect to be open for business in early spring.
The closure follows a similar decision by a local hotel in Florida to close a saloon after more people complained about the noise it caused in the early days of the new season.
The Salons’ closure came as Key has become a destination for people looking to go to the resort.
In October, there were over a million visitors to Key Boca resort, which was ranked No. 4 on the 2016 Travel & Leisure Travel Guide’s list of America’s Favorite Destinations for 2016.
The hotel, which opened in September, has been a popular tourist destination for nearly a decade, according to TripAdvisor.
The property is now home to a number of hotels, including the Four Seasons, the Blue Diamond, the Plaza, the Holiday Inn, and the Marriott Marquis.
The City of West Palm Beach also operates several restaurants in Key, including Boca Burger in Key City and Red Lobster Bar in Key Beach.
