Key West, Fla.
— The key West spa in Key Washington has a new owner, who plans to bring a more relaxed atmosphere and a few new features to the resort.
Key West Spa owner Bill Wirtz announced the addition of a spa lounge, a massage room, a children’s play area and a small boutique.
He’s also adding an indoor/outdoor spa.
The key west spa has more than 2,500 beds, but Wirtzz said he plans to add more room for the coming year.
Wirtz said the new owners, who have been looking for a Key West location for about two years, have been impressed with the quality of the facility.
He said they’re also looking forward to bringing a few changes to the Key West boutique.
The Key West hotel is currently open for business, and Wirtzes staff is open for the public to visit.
Wirtsz said Key West will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and he expects the new owner to have a “long weekend.”
He said he’s also planning to open a second Key West resort this summer, which would add about 400 rooms to the spa and surrounding area.
